Talos is a 40-feet-tall bronze robot designed by Hephaestus to protect the island location of his workshop by throwing rocks at approaching ships. Its weak spot is its left heel, which is sealed shut with one giant bolt. If the bolt is removed, the robot will bleed to death. It was originally defeated by Jason, Medea, and the Argonauts.

In the Series[]

Archaeologists re-discover Hephaestus' Girls, it leads Cronus to Hephaestus' most terrifying creation: Talos. The bronze giant is reconstructed and threatens to destroy an entire island. Cronus brought it back to life, he cast a spell on the bolt so that it could not be removed. The modern-day inhabitants of the island worshipped Talos as a volcano god.

Hermes informs them about Talos and The Chosen Ones leave for the island. Their first plan to break Talos' ankle failed and Jay, Atlanta, Archie, Herry and the two robots are chased into a cave.Talos is distracted and is after Neil while the robots climb up the volcano to rescue him thinking he was trapped. Talos gets hold of one of the robot and the other one saves Neil. Odie and Theresa got to their aircraft to work out the plan and drops bombs over Talos, making him and the robots to fall into the volcano. Hephaestus' Girls made the biggest sacrifice.

Mythology[]

Talos was a giant automaton made of bronze to protect Europa in Crete from pirates and invaders. He circled the island's shores three times daily. Talos's bronze nature suggested he may have been a survivor from the Age of Bronze, a descendant of the brazen race that sprang from meliae "ash-tree nymphs".

Talos is described by Greeks in two versions. In one version, Talos is a gift from Hephaestus to Minos, forged with the aid of the Cyclops in the form of a bull. In the other version, Talos is created by Hephaestus at the request of Zeus, as a gift to Europa to protect her from people who would want to kidnap her.

Talos threw rocks at any approaching ship to protect his island. When the Sardinians did not wish to release Talos to Minos, he heated himself – by jumping into a fire – and clasped them in his embrace. Talos had one vein, which went from his neck to his ankle, bound shut by only one bronze nail. The Argo, transporting Jason and the Argonauts, approached Crete after obtaining the Golden Fleece. As guardian of the island, Talos kept the Argo at bay by hurling great boulders at it.

Talos was slain when Medea the sorceress either drove him mad with drugs or deceived him into believing that she would make him immortal by removing the nail.

Medea hypnotized him from the Argo, driving him mad with the keres she raised, so that he dislodged the nail, and "the ichor ran out of him like molten lead", exsanguinating and killing him. The story is somewhat reminiscent of the story regarding the heel of Achilles.
