Odie "The Brains" is the descendant of Odysseus, and he's introduced as the 6th member of the group. He is the brains of the operation and often figures out what Cronus is up to.

His mentor is Hermes.

Appearance[]

Odie is the shortest boy of the teens. He has dark skin and dark brown/black hair. He is usually seen wearing a light blue short sleeved shirt under a red hooded zip up sweater, khaki pants, and slip on shoes. He wears small, square shaped glasses.

Personality[]

As the smartest member of the team, Odie can be rather proud about his intelligence and knowing/figuring things out that the others can't but will become upset if the others treat him as nothing more than a "search engine". As the least physically combative of the team, Odie usually tries to strategize how to make it through a situation and has proven on several occasions that his plans work out.

Because his powers are not as physical as the others, Odie tends to fall victim to any power he gets which causes him to become somewhat arrogant and cocky; best seen in Time Enough for Everything when he almost carelessly used a time altering bracelet that brought attention from Cronus, wiped Jay from existence, and nearly ended the teens.

However, he does prove that he is very honorable as he kept a promise he made to the Grae Sisters and proved in Eye for an Eye that his honor matched Polyphemus'. In Recipe for Disaster, he appears to be somewhat skilled at cooking although the possible mishaps could be attributed to Athena not properly remembering the recipe they were using. In Daedalus or Alive, he showed no interest in learning the skill of sewing but was forced to when Athena refused to mend his clothing and he had to learn it which would prove to be very handy when facing Daedalus.

When outside of Cronus related matters, Odie becomes absorbed in video games or computer related projects to near obsessive levels and nearly tuning out the world around him.

Bio[]

Due to his size and physical prowess he often mocked or looked down upon, causing him to get angry or upset with the others. He is constantly trying to prove himself and show that the strength of the mind is just as strong as the strength of the body. He can get ahead of himself sometimes and tends to explain things in an over complicated manner to a point when others don't understand him. He knows he can count on his friends and shows a great loyalty to all of them, even risking his life to rescue them.

Cronus usually mocks Odie by referring to him as "the little one". Since he lacks the more notable physical capabilities of his ancestor and those of his friends, Odie is often underestimated.

Abilities[]

  • High Intelligence: Like Odysseus, Odie's strengths lie in his high intelligence, versatility, and craftsmanship. Odie is able to come up with strategies, set brilliant traps, as well as create gadgets for the rest of the team to use in battle. He has super intelligence, cleverness and extremely advanced skills with all types of electronics. He is also the group's tactician and the first to come up with a plan.

Weaknesses[]

  • Claustrophobia: Odie is claustrophobic and cannot handle enclosed spaces.[1]

Equipment[]

He has no official weapon, but usually uses a walkie-talkie and an amazingly well-equipped laptop given to him by Hermes.

Wears green-tinted glasses, likes virtual reality video games—he is apparently skilled enough at them to fly a special jet plane he has never flown before. Although the design was taken right out of one of his favorite video games.

Trivia[]

  • Odie is the shortest of the seven heroes.
  • His best friend is Herry.
  • Odie's IQ is over 110.
    • Official standards label this as smarter than average.
  • During many fights in the show Herry refers to Odie as "Little Buddy".
  • In terms of original mythology, through Odysseus, Odie would be related to Autolycus (Odysseus's grandfather), Hermes (Autolycus's father), Jason (Autolycus's other grandson) and, by extension, Jay.
  • Odie is claustrophobic, which may be a reference to how Odysseus was trapped in caves by both Calypso and Polyphemus.
    • Many fans have pointed out that his claustrophobia doesn't make sense as Odie has been in many small or underground spaces without any sign of distress.
  • Original designs of Odie depicted him in a white hoodie with a blue shirt.
  • In Recipe for Disaster, he recognizes the most ancient Greek writing but doesn't know how to read it.
