- The "adamantium chains" Odie mentions are references to adamant, a uniquely strong metal in Greek mythology. Among others, one such object made of adamant was Cronus' sickle.
- However, the word "adamantium" is a modern invention commonly used in the works of Marvel Comics for its own fictional metal alloy; in other uses, the typical adjective used is simply "adamant" or "adamantine".
- Different myths state that Sisyphus gained sympathy from Persephone about not having a proper funeral and was allowed to return to the land of the living because he knew Hades would not allow him to return.
