Biography[]
Jay's mother is Greek and is familiar with Greek mythology, which she told Jay as he grew up.[1]
Near midnight on New Year's Eve, Jay's mother finds him in their backyard watching the planetary alignment through a telescope. She asks him to come inside and believes he should be more focused on what's happening around him than to concern himself with the goings on of space.[2]
After Jay is taken to New Olympia, Hermes (in disguise) tells his parents a cover story that he has been specially selected for intensive training to be an astronaut and will be off to work on a space station in a few years.[2]
