Jay, "The Leader", descendant of Jason of the Argonauts. Jay is 16 years old and the first of the teenagers to be located. He is one of the main characters. His mentor is Hera.

Appearance[]

Jay is a handsome young man with a tall, slender build. He has short hair he keeps styled in a swept back style and varies in shades of brown. His clothing usually consists of a yellow shirt with purple stripes with a white tank top, blue pants with a black belt, and beige sneakers.

Personality[]

Jay is a responsible teen, a trait that intensified when he became part of the next generation of heroes and was appointed the position of leader. Being in such a position causes Jay to feel a great weight on his shoulders as he knows how serious the situation to stop Cronus is. Any time that a plan does not work how they hoped or someone becomes hurt, he tends to take the blame and at times considers removing himself as either the leader or member of the team, something he did at least once when Odie had quit the team.

Jay is often very helpful and caring towards those around him. Due to being a new aged hero, Jay tries to learn as much as he can about their enemy, creatures, history, magic, etc. as he can so he knows how to best approach the situation.

During this free time, Jay enjoys sailing his boat or hanging out with his friends. While he enjoys jokes from time to time, he also knows when to stop a prank from going too far or will use another form of joke to teach a lesson. When he feels someone has taken a joke too far, he is not afraid to scold that person for not being more aware of their actions. Like most of the guys, Jay can sometimes be distracted by a beautiful girl but will remain loyal to those he cares for most.

History[]

He is of Greek heritage on his mother's side and thus grew up with the stories of classical mythology. While he appeared unaware he is the descendant of Jason prior to joining New Olympia, he was very familiar with the legend of the Argonauts and their numerous adventures.

Bio[]

He is often calm and collected with himself and his emotions. He has an instinct for leadership but was initially unsure about his leadership role, as the others displayed obvious physical skills to signify and cement their places in the group, whereas Jay's were more subtle. His preferred weapon is a xiphos, a sword where the blade retracts into the sword handle.

If the other teenagers are confused about a certain mythological concept, he usually explains it to them. Jay takes his role as a hero extremely seriously, usually being the one who's always worrying about potential threats even when everything seems fine. His sense of responsibility and focused work ethic tends to be the foundation of the group and drives the same group mildly insane. He is addicted to working. Sailing seems to be his favorite hobby. Jay is also analyzed as the everyman, taking into account the well-being of his friends and respecting each and every one of their abilities.

Jay Synopsis

Relationships[]

  • Theresa: Since their first meeting, Jay appeared to have a crush on Theresa but did not say anything as he was not sure of her feelings toward him. He has great respect and admiration toward her and her many abilities. Though knowing she is capable of handling many things on her own, he does tend to be somewhat overprotective of her at certain points. By the end of the series, they officially become an item when he used his feelings for her as a way to bring her out of her overpowered state.
  • Hera: Jay is quite close to the goddess. Although he knows how powerful she is, he tends to attempt keeping her out of any fights. He often seeks her guidance and insight into many situations and feels immense guilt if he feels she is disappointed.
  • The Chosen Ones: Jay has a close bond with the other six heroes. He easily gets along with them but does find some of their individual traits difficult to ignore, such as Neil bragging too much about something he has done or Archie sometimes mocking others too harshly. However, he knows their individual strengths and weaknesses well enough to know how to best handle things during certain situations.

Notes[]

  • It is unknown whether Jay is his full name, if it is short for Jason, or if it is short for something else.
  • Not mentioned in the show is that Jason was the grandson of Autolycus, making Jay a descendant of Hermes and cousin to Odie.

Trivia[]

  • Like the other Olympians, Jay's name is based on his ancestor's name, Jason, but in a modern way. Jay is derived from the first syllable of Jason's name.
  • Hermes informs Jay's parents that Jay will be working with NASA, training to become an astronaut. A reference to the myth, Jason and the Argonauts.
