Summary[]

Wishing to use a dangerous weapon Hercules used during the twelve labors, Cronus calls upon Autolycus to find the weapon but also reveal background on one of the gods.

Plot[]

During a lesson with Persephone, Theresa is constantly insulted by the bottle imp Gary. An angry Theresa manages to control Gary long enough for him to hit himself with a folding fan. However, when Theresa momentarily pauses, Gary changes the fan into a wooden paddle and tosses it at Theresa, hitting her on the forehead.

When Persephone becomes angry at his actions, Gary quickly flees and wanders into Hermes office where he spots the Helmet of Darkness. With Hermes soundly napping, Gary takes the helmet and quickly makes his way to Cronus' lair. The imp whispers an offer to the titan who laughs in delight at the opportunity before him.

At the school, the teens are enduring wrestling against Herry when Theresa appears. The group take notice of the Band-Aid on her forehead and learn how she got it. Although Theresa dislikes having to interact with Gary, she still views it as a way to improve herself to help in the fight against Cronus.

Said immortal is currently playing a Grecian hologram version of Battleship with Gary and discussing a long-lost surviving arrow that Hercules had dipped into the blood of the Hydra during his labors. Though Gary claims all of the arrows were destroyed, Cronus is certain that the final arrow is out there. Gazing at the Helmet of Darkness that allowed Odysseus into Troy without being seen, Cronus has an idea of how to find the arrow and summons Autolycus, the Prince of Thieves. He informs the young man that he wants to locate the last arrow of Hercules and promises a Golden Apple that will make him immortal if he succeeds. With such a grand reward before him, Autolycus accepts the job.

Starting at a university research lab, Autolycus, using the helmet to be invisible, sneaks behind one of the researchers into a lab. He sneakily grabs her identification key before locating the compartment where an arrow is kept. Using acid, he opens the compartment and takes the arrow. While using the researcher's card to leave, an alarm sounds and the arrow is discovered to have been stolen.

In Hermes' office, the messenger deity and teen heroes learn of the robbery as the newest target in a string of robberies by an unknown and unseen thief taking arrows from each location. Archie suspects Cronus may be behind this but Jay and Odie both claim the subtlety of the robberies is not Cronus' style as well as the thief not being caught by any cameras. Odie adds that there was absolutely no evidence left and the crimes were perfectly committed. Hermes suddenly excuses himself and flies off. Theresa suddenly hears a voice mockingly calling her but dismisses it as simply hearing things.

At the hideout, Autolycus emerges from the water and presents the stolen arrow to Cronus. The titan seeks the scent of the Hydra's blood that does not fade over time but finds none and deems the arrow a fake.

Back at the school, Odie comes up with several locations that could be the next target. Jay asks Theresa to get a feeling for which location may be next. When she does, she learns the next target will be a private collection but also envisions Hermes somehow involved in the situation. She informs the others of her vision of Hermes possibly stealing the arrow but none of them are certain they can believe it.

That night, the chosen heroes arrive at the location of the private collection. With Herry and Neil keeping a lookout and Odie feeding information, the others make their way inside at the same time Autolycus travels through a waterfall fountain and into the room. As they expose the laser security, Theresa notices wet footprints across the floor and alerts the others. Just as they reach the ground, the arrow is removed from its secure case.

Things become worse when Theresa hears the voice again which causes her to panic and accidentally set off the alarm. Herry, Neil, and Odie hear the alarm and see their friends trying to escape. Herry sees the four will be cornered by the guard dogs and drives his truck through the hedges to save them. As they escape, Jay states that Theresa was aware of someone else being in the room with them and were able to take the arrow because they were invisible. Unfortunately, Theresa needs to be alone to discover why she is hearing voices and leaves.

Autolycus returns to Cronus with the arrow, but it is deemed a fake as it is missing the smell of the Hydra's blood. With only one last place the arrow can be, Cronus warns Autolycus not to fail otherwise he will face a great punishment.

Theresa makes her way to The Oracle to ask why her powers are not working properly. The Oracle states that nothing is wrong with her powers, but she has lost the ability to see what is right in front of her. Right then, Theresa gets a vision of her home and fears her father is in danger.

The other six teens return to the school where Hermes meets them to confess something. Neil jokingly questions if he is the invisible thief but Hermes corrects him and answers the thief, Autolycus, is his son. Confessing he himself was a thief known as the King of Thieves, Hermes reveals that it was thanks to Zeus that he left that life. While confirming that Autolycus has no special powers of his own, Hermes does point out how the Helmet of Darkness is missing and that it makes the wearer invisible.

This leads Jay to realize that Theresa's vision of Hermes was actually Autolycus. Hermes adds his suspicion of his son's actions as working for Cronus who is seeking to obtain Hercules' final arrow. Hearing the arrow has Hydra blood, Jay recalls that Theresa's home was one of the possible target locations. He quickly calls Theresa to update her of the situation and finds out that she is already on her way to her house.

Gathering together, the group greet Theresa's father while disguising their sudden visit to be part of a class and wanting to learn from the cities top entrepeneur. Theresa leads the group into her father's office and miss Autolycus as he exits a fountain. Theresea and Neil successfully direct the conversation towards collecting items and Theresa's father opens a highly secured safe where he pulls out an arrow that is said to have been passed down their family through several generations. Jay suspects that Hercules must have given the arrow to Theseus in the past.

When Theresa's father steps away to answer a phone call, the group begin to make plans to get the arrow back to school when Odie suddenly asks how to know if Autolycus is among them. Hermes' son appears before them but wears the helmet to be invisible and take the arrow. Herry quickly shuts the office doors but is caught in a wrestling match by the unseen thief.

Theresa uses the sand from a zen garden to throw onto Autolycus and give Herry the advantage. Archie removes the helmet and exposes Autolycus. Jay recovers the arrow when Theresa notices a fly. She begins to chase it and uses her powers to reveal the fly was Gary and the voice she had been hearing.

Seeing a chance to mess with Cronus, Jay forms a plan and forces the two henchmen to be part of it. The two return to Cronus where Autolycus hands him an arrow that has an odd scent. Using the arrow, Gary reveals to have morphed himself into the shape of the arrow and Autolycus has run off with the Golden Apple. He nearly takes a bite from it when it is snatched away by Hermes.

Securing the arrow in the weapons vault, Jay states that Hera will decide what to do with it. Theresa is relieved her powers were not defective and Neil states that she just had an angry imp after her. When claiming that he would have seen through the disguise, a regular fly startles him and gives the others a good laugh.

Trivia[]

  • The helmet of Invisibility is said to have been given to Odysseus by Autolycus so he could sneak into Troy.
    • This is accurate depending on certain versions of the myth.
  • Hermes reveals that Zeus saved him from a life of thievery.
  • Although his punishment is unknown, it is safe to assume that Autolycus was sent back to his own time, as he was destined to become the grandfather of the heroes Jason and Odysseus, and later the ancestor of both Jay and Odie.
  • The blood of the Hydra is stated to be fatal to both mortals and immortals.
