Atlanta ("The Hunter") is the descendant of Atalanta. She was the second teen brought to New Olympia and is mentored by Artemis.

She is super-fast, has exceptional reflexes and tracking abilities. Atlanta uses Steel Bolas, though she gradually changes to a small Wrist Laser Crossbow.

Physical appearance[]

Atlanta has tan skin. She has short red hair and hunter green eyes as well as two gold earrings per ear. Her normal attire is consisted of a blue-striped crop top basic shirt with a light blue rectangle on her chest, green cargo shorts with a black belt, black wristband on her left wrist, white shin-length socks and black and white sneakers. Her belly button is shaped like a tear drop.

Personality[]

Atlanta often works in tandem with Herry or Archie to take down Cronus' minions. Atlanta has a bit of a one-track mind, preferring to act rather than think things through, likes to tease Archie, and is very short-tempered and impatient at times. At the same time, she's very studious to the point of being neurotic. She also has an interest in environmental issues and volunteers for the Green Alliance, though she also enjoys hunting with traditional weapons and has a scar on her right shoulder from an incident with a puma.

Atlanta has no interest in dating, but she did have a crush on Pan and gradually developed feelings for Archie, although she was shown being upset when he was captivated by Aphrodite's appearance during Chaos 103. Atlanta is also a player on Olympia High's field hockey team, along with Theresa. Atlanta is also an environmental activist, taking part in different protests. She also is very stubborn as she at times can be seen being upset at being told not to do certain things or mess with certain objects but fails to notice it is done out of concern for her and others. This same trait also jabs at her pride as she appears to take these warnings as being told she personally cannot do or handle certain things and she sets out to prove otherwise which can have disastrous results, such as in Tantalize This.

Biography[]

Atlanta was born and raised in the Northwest Territories and was brought up around weapons and such, which gave her the means for her odd passion of dangerous weapons.

In the series[]

Atlanta is one of seven teen heroes brought to New Olympus and learns of her destiny to be part of stopping the titan Cronus from taking over the world. Like the others, she was somewhat hesitant to accept this information but quickly adapted and accepted. Throughout the series, she often uses her great speed to help her friends.

At certain points, she is shown being rather impatient, angry over sexist behavior, and tempted to take forbidden items when under influence by magic or her own pride. When this occurs and she realizes her mistakes, she will make amends and apologize for her actions regardless if she had done them of her own will or not.

Abilities and Weapons[]

Atlanta is super-fast, has exceptional reflexes and tracking abilities. Atlanta uses jaw-trap steel bolas as her weapon of choice, though she gradually tires of using steel bolas as enemies often run off with them or break them and elects to use a small wrist crossbow that shoots laser beams.

Atlanta is an experienced hunter, knows how to use traditional and modern weapons. For example, an arrow bow and an electro-muscular stun gun. Dispuse of excellent combat skill combined with his speed and reflexes provides enormous advantage. Practice, like all elected officials, various sports and the art of combat in order to be prepared. Seems to be practicing martial arts, in one episode Archie mentions that he and Atlanta have a judo class.

Season One[]

Atlanta has a bit of a one-track mind, preferring to act; instead of think things through, likes to tease Archie (mostly about his fear of water) and is very short tempered. But simultaneously, she is also very studious; to the point of being neurotic. She also has an interest in environmental issues and volunteers for the Green Alliance, although she also enjoys hunting with traditional weapons (ie. bow and arrows) and has a scar on her right shoulder from an incident with a puma.

Season Two[]

Eris spreads discord among both the heroes and The Gods. Causing Archie and Atlanta to get into a fight at the movies, and again the next day. It soon spread to the rest of the team and The Gods.

Harmonia has Odie call on the other heroes, speaking to them and calming them with her voice. A message which is relayed to the squabbling Gods and Humans. With Eris neutralized and everyone back to themselves, Harmony returns to the school and holds an anger management class to offer closure to those who were fighting; only to find that her efforts are unsuccessful for Atlanta and Archie.

While fighting Cronus, Atlanta falls under the Temple of Prometheus. While alone in there, she meets Tantalus. He asks for her help, telling he cannot eat nor drink as his punishment from when he lived. When she refuses, he curses her, saying the things she desires she will take. Back at home, she takes the blame for the lose of the key.

Later that night, Atlanta discovers Athena's hidden weapons room which contains her Aegis. The curse acts on her and she feels tempted to own the Aegis. After determined to defeat Cronus all by herself, she wears the Aegis which hurts Archie with an electric shock. Atlanta goes after Cronus at the top of a mountain and the others go after her. When they reach the peak, Cronus opened the box and it begins raining. Jay flies down to Atlanta while the others go after the chest. He deactivates the Aegis and shocks Cronus with; it instead.

Relationships[]

  • Archie: Atlanta is originally shown to be somewhat interested in Archie but either not acting on this knowledge or pretending to not notice. She often engages in humorous banter with him although many can tell that there is hidden interest and can occasionally be seen with a look of jealousy when Archie is attracted to another girl. Over time, Atlanta begins to realize she has feelings for Archie but is afraid to act on them since she is afraid that it would change their dynamic and the team's. It wasn't until The Deep End that she confessed she cared for him the same way he did toward her.
  • Pan: The god of the forest and a modern dj. In The Nature of Things, Atlanta is shown to be romantically interested in Pan's alter ego, but it was revealed that part of her interest was due to a hidden spell in his music. When she was free from it, she continued to be interested in him but seems to have toned down her interest and instead joins him in restoring nature during critical moments.
  • The Chosen Ones: Atlanta's closest friends. She has developed a sibling-like bond with them and usually spends her time with one or more of them. As her friends often look out for her safety, she does the same for them and does what she can to help keep them safe and defeat their latest enemy.
  • The Gods: Atlanta shows them great respect majority of the time but, when under influence of a spell, she can be rude toward them and call them out on things she finds unfair. She is often very polite toward them and grateful when they offer their help in a situation.

Trivia[]

  • Archie says he wouldn't take orders from Atlanta because she's a Junior in high school.[1] This implies she is 16 or 17 years old.
  • Atlanta's original designs depicted Atlanta in a white T-shirt
  • Her voice actress, Meghan Black:
  • Atlanta's ancestor was originally supposed to be the Greek heroine and huntress, Atalanta, from the start (as evidenced by early descriptions made before the series was finalized[2]). By the time the series began, this was changed to Artemis (as seen in the opening sequence and stated in the first episode[3]) for unknown reasons, possibly due to Artemis being more recognizable a character than Atalanta. However, this created a plot hole, as Artemis was both a goddess, not a hero, and famously a virgin who would obviously not have any descendants. This error was later rectified in the series to clarify that Atlanta was indeed a descendant of Atalanta, but the change to Artemis remained in the opening sequence during Season Two.
    • Similarly, Narcissus famously loved no one but himself and died alone, yet how he had any descendants is never explained.
  • Atlanta's speed is a reference to Atlanta's famous footrace. Her father tried to make her get married, but she said they had to beat her in a footrace before they could marry her, and she would kill the losers.
  • Atlanta originally has no interest in dating, as noted by Herry who describes her as "totally unavailable," and Jay who says that "no guy has a chance with her," in The Nature of Things. In the same episode she did have a crush on Phil, who was the demi-god Pan in disguise and it was partly through a hidden spell in his music that she was interested in him.
  • Atlanta is the second shortest character, being just a bit taller than Odie.
  • Her favorite pizza is veggie pepperoni.[4]
